Sylvia Likens (Part 1)

The Indianapolis Police Department’s Chief of Homicide called it “the most sadistic act I ever came across,” and today the murder of Sylvia Likens is still considered to be one of the most terrible crimes to occur in Indiana, even after half a century has passed.

On October 26th, 1965, Police arrived at 3820 East New York Street and found the body of Sylvia Likens in the basement. She was sprawled on a filthy mattress with cuts, bruises, and burns covering most of her body, and it was apparent to the police that something horrendous has happened within the house. Sheep Flats Jane Doe

On Saturday the 17th of July, 1982, a young woman and a companion walked across a meadow known to locals as the sheep flats. She was 5 and a half feet tall, of slender build with light brown hair, which was pulled back into a bun and hazel eyes.

Dressed for a day at the beach, the young woman and her companion sat down on a log, and she took off her shoes. It is not known how long they sat there together, but at some point, the two decided that it was time to walk back to their car. As the woman knelt down to tie up her shoes, her companion took out a gun. They then aimed it at the woman and fired. Continue reading

Munchausen and Murder (Part 2)

From about three months of age, Dee Dee Blancharde started to tell people that Gypsy suffered from sleep apnea despite tests showing that there was no sign at all. Family and friends would tell everyone that even though Gypsy was a little bit premature and her skull was a little off, there was nothing at all physically wrong with the baby.
